The India of my dreams is of infinite and valuable variety; not only of human variety of color, hair, nose and lip and religion, culture and art. But more especially and far above and beyond this, is a realm of true freedom: in thought and dream, in fantasy and in imagination; in gift, aptitude, and in genius—in all possible manner of difference, topped with freedom of soul to do and be, and in freedom of thought to give to the world all wealth of inborn individuality.
Every effort to stop this freedom of ‘being’ is an attack on democracy—that real democracy which is a reservoir of opportunity.
We can only be free by relating . We can only be free by embracing diversity.
And when we are truly free in our being, we can be free in being together, and by being together can we accomplish all – even Peace.
